Costumes have been part of human life and any tradition worldwide. The term refers to a piece of clothing or dress for particular "people, class, period or time". The transformation in designs, styles, and cuts has evolved from time to time.

Early civilizations honed remarkable and distinguishable dresses or costumes (although they were not used or rarely use today). Egyptian pharaohs wore large ornament and transparent clothing to show wealth and status. Other ancient civilizations-Babylonians, Celts, Romans, and more wore clothes like tunics, vests, skirts, sandals etc. Traditional Chinese costumes or clothes were the pien-fu, the ch'ang-p'ao, and the shen-i.

People in different countries are also discerned based on his/her costume which serves as a thumb mark of nationality. National costumes make one culture distinguishable from the other on which clothes he/she wears.

Aside from the underlying identity or nationality it transmit, costumes popular emergence convey a particular clothing that is/are used in artistic presentations such as play, theatre performance, and parties.

During Renaissance Period, theatre actors and actresses wore costumes and ornaments. In Bristol Renaissance Faire, performers wore costumes and became an important part of any play and festivals. Greeks actors in amphitheaters greatly used costumes among their plays.

Nowadays, the use of costumes neither play or theatre is still important and widely practiced. I haven't seen any play with a single-costumed actors, and that would be totally insane (if someone do that)! No theatre director and producer could have put up an idea of setting up one costume or set; unless what they are producing is a cartoon play or playing up Spongebob and Dora. Every casts and even extras are given appropriate costume and those costumes are financed to suit with different characters.

Aside from the usual feast, holidays such as Christmas and Halloween, wouldn't be complete without wearing costumes. What's the presence of these holidays, if there's no costume to complement the season? Nonsense, right? Halloween would be boring without the sight of scariest costumes such as ghosts, vampires, and skeletons. Santa Claus could have been annoyed if he didn't see children in Christmas costumes. Cute, cuddly, little cupids couldn't struck his arrow to the woman you've been attracted to, if you hadn't wore red dress and wings. Sounds hypothetical? Whew! That 's the truth 'coz costumes have been part of our lifestyle or otherwise wreck the tradition!!!

Costumes wouldn't take its place on earth without the people who created them. Behind High School Musical, Disney on Ice, or any play either, costumers have exerted much effort to give the casts a wonderful costumes. These people are highly creative to bring into reality the costumes that are imaginary

Costumers, just like any professionals, have ethics and manifesto that should be met.. Well-known costumer, Celestine Ranney, said "I am a costumer, I make clothes for imaginary people."

Costumers are not either fashion designers or clothing manufacturer, but a wonderful person who can turn ideas, character, and concept together. A touch of creativity has swayed them to visually represent the words of playrights and scriptwriters into visual metaphors.
